Exposure to this high-energy light has been linked to digital eye strain in as little as two hours of exposure. Symptoms of digital eye strain include things like tired, dry, burning, or watery eyes. The problem with TV and computer use comes when you’re using either for long periods of time. According to recent surveys, most of us spend about nine hours a day on our digital devices.
There are certain lenses and lens coatings that can help alleviate some of that digital eye strain you might be experiencing. These specialty lenses and coatings help filter out different levels of blue light.
Another way to combat digital eye strain is to follow the 20/20/20 rule. Every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break, and focus your eyes on something at least 20 feet away. Twenty seconds is pretty brief, so you can probably work it into your schedule. If you can extend that time a little bit longer, all the better!
